Cartier Demonstrates High-Jewelry Watchmaking Expertise With Unique Ruby Watch

It is not as though the legendary house of Cartier has anything to prove. The brand could take a pause and rest on its accomplishments in the jewelry and watch world. But that just wouldn’t be Cartier — the brand that continually strives to unveil only the most exceptional pieces. As such, this year at SIHH, Cartier again demonstrated its prowess as a jeweler by presenting the Cartier Trait d’Eclat high-jeweled watch.

This particular beauty is one of more than 20 high-jeweled watches unveiled by the brand at SIHH 2017. It is magnificently set with 15 round Burmese rubies weighing 24.93 carats and diamond baguettes on the bracelet that wrap around the wrist and embrace a tear-drop-shaped watch dial. The cuff-style bracelet watch emulates the look that Cartier mastered in the Art Deco era — geometry, symmetry and masterful use of color. The watch is powered by the manually wound Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 101 — the smallest mechanical watch movement to date.
